Bunclody Vocational College Awards Day

Our awards day is an integral part of the school year and the diverse array of awards presented to students on that day demonstrates the school's ethos.

Awards Day - May 2011

Bunclody Vocational College was a popular place to be  when broadcasting legend Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh was present for the Annual Awards and Sports Day. The broadcaster and Irish language enthusiast enthralled the large audience of pupils, teachers, parents and friends with his own recollections of his school days and how his own career was formed from his love of sports. The day began with a bilingual mass to celebrate the year end. There followed the illustrious and varied list of awar.ds to present, reflecting the enormous amount of work undertaken by students and staff during the year. The awards presented ranged from academic and class awards to J.C.S.P, Gaeltacht scholarships, merit and enterprise awards. Attendance and sports achievements were also recognised.

Mr Jay Murphy addressed the audience and reflected on the year just gone and on the enormous effort and dedication shown by pupils and teachers. He took the opportunity to wish the outgoing students well in their future endeavours.

Eilís Leddy, Education Officer with County Wexford VEC, lauded the work of the students and teachers and recalled how the school has always been at the forefront of new initiatives introduced to the education system.  After the formal ceremony, a wide variety of informal sports were competed in by all, culminating with teachers and students participating together in the much anticipated yearly teacher –v- students soccer finale – a day to remember for everyone!
