Launch of Link-Up with Kerry Foods PLC

A new link between Bunclody Vocational College and Kerry Foods Plc was launched last month. The Schools’ Business Partnership have been responsible for organising this link, whose aim is provide students with work life skills and insights into the world of work.

Kerry Foods is making a commitment to assist Bunclody Vocational College senior cycle students by providing them with a firsthand insight into the world of work. As part of the newly established link, students will take part in the Skills @ Work programme, where volunteer employees work with students on CV writing and interview skills and give them an insight into the array of jobs available to students through ‘A Day in the Life” session.

Kerry Foods is one of the largest companies in Ireland and it is a wonderful opportunity for BVC students to make a connection with the company, its management and employees.  Kerry Foods PLC employees are looking forward to sharing their expertise with our students and we know that our students are very much looking forward to working with them in the coming year.

New Home Economics Kitchen

There was great excitement when the new kitchen was finally put to use.  After months of building work, choosing decor and plenty of organising by Ms. Bolger, the new kitchen was up and running. All the Home Economics students were very excited to be working in such modern and beautiful surroundings.  We expect plenty of lovely treats to come out of the kitchen now, we certainly see very happy students leaving there every day.

Sportsathon

All students have received their Sponsorship Cards for the event.  Please try and raise as much as you can, and thank you to all who have contributed.  Sending our students as volunteers on the Ferns Diocesan Lourdes Trip is very important to the school and the students, so thank you for your contributions.

Surveys

A reminder to all parents to send back in the surveys that they received in the post recently.  Developing the buildings and facilities of the school is an ongoing priority of the management, staff and parents of the school and these surverys are an integral element of that strategy.
