Bunclody Vocational College – Carrying on a proud tradition of Delivering First Class Courses
Bunclody Vocational College has been delivering first grade F.E.T.A.C. courses in the Bunclody area for many years. Our commitment to the needs of the learner and the community is second to none. In this time of rising unemployment you need to put your trust in people you know, teachers with experience, courses which give you a real choice for employment or further studies.
We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of the community in the area of second chance education. Our past pupils have gone onto very lucrative careers and some have reached the highest level of educational achievement. A past students, Gareth Shannon received a scholarship from Carlow IT based on his exceptional FETAC Level 5 results from BVC.
Our courses are not by chance but by design. We look carefully at the needs of the community and research with organisations such as Fórfas and implement accordingly. We also have developed links with local employers and these employers are aware of the high standards we espouse at BVC.
What makes Bunclody Vocational College PLC courses different from other providers?
- Smaller classes and groups facilitating individual mentoring and support
- Intensive career guidance services: CAO form filling, career classes, mock interviews
- Continuous support for those coming back to education
- Huge emphasis on equality and diversity in the school
- Ensure that all individuals would be able to access all courses
In September 2010 we introduced two new courses – Level 6 Supervision in Childcare and Social Studies. The Supervision in Childcare will not only help the student to get a job in the childcare industry but will give a graduate the skills and knowledge to take up a Management position in a crèche. While employment is a major priority with all our graduates, a number of our graduates from all courses and in particular these new courses are now going onto pursue a Third-level course.
Our Horticultural course is now in its third year and has provided its graduates with a comprehensive scientific and practical base in horticulture. The Business and Healthcare Support courses are all well established and provide participants with a comprehensive FETAC Level 5 award incorporating a work placement module.
Our record is one of excellence and we are proud to stand over it. We look forward to serving, with pride, the people of the Bunclody and its environs into the future. This is an honour that we never take for granted at our College.
We are currently offering the following courses:
